Basic Paintball Trip Mine

There are many different types of plans I've seen for mines. This one is cheap and effective. It uses a betty grenade and some fishing line or string. My betty's work perfect for this because the cap on the grenade keeps the ball in place. If the cap is removed, the grenade will go off immediately. To make a mine from one of my bettys, you need to tie a string through the holes in the red cap prior to putting it on the grenade. Just make a loop with the string so you can tie a line to it later.

How it works. Bring some fishing line or string along with you on the field. Attach string to the bottom of the grenade, wrap string around a tree and tie it back to the bottom of the grenade. This is just to keep it in place. Then set the tripwire. Tie the line to the loop of string on the cap. Pull it across the trail and tie it snugly to a tree on the other side so the line is a few inches off the ground. You can go up to ten feet or so, but keep the tripwire within the range of the grenade. Finally, cafefully remove the pin from the grenade and get out of there. When an unfortunate soul hits the tripwire, it will set off the grenade and they will be effectively eliminated. Remember to let your teammates know it's there as mines don't discriminate!
