The Dual Barrel Paintball Launcher

After reading every FAQ available on the internet about Grenade Launchers, Potato guns... etc, I started designing and building #4 (The third one is the shotgun / launcher). I learned quite a few lessons with the first 3. With this paint slinger I was going for maximum paint, maximum range. I succeeded. While it is a hand held launcher, I have often thought of adding a tripod to make it also a mortar. On to the launcher.... I started with the thought of maximum air flow thus the 1 1/4" ball valve in the middle of the gun. In the earlier models I noticed serious degredation in performance because all of the CO2 could not be released at the same time through the smaller valves. Starting with the valve, I worked my way back toward the air supply. I was using a 12 gram setup and never liked the small puncture hole used to get the CO2 out of the 12 gram cartridge. To fix the prior degredation problem, I needed all the gas to be ready to go through the valve. The 1/32" hole in the 12 gram sure wasn't gonna cut it, so I created the expansion chamber at the back of the launcher. I could go on for hours on expansion chambers, but I won't. Go read some FAQs. :) I will say that it is constructed of all metal (Galvanized and Brass) and a ton of teflon tape. NEVER use plastic or PVC pipe when making chambers! Ok, on to the barrels. I wanted the barrels to be light and removable. Using PVC and adapters I made 2 removable barrels. The first was constructed from 1 1/2" PVC and the other 2" (see pics).

The results....
I loaded a short shell (see pics below) in the 1 1/2" barrel and pierced the 12 gram.
I proceeded to my front porch :)
I aimed it up at about a 45 degree angle and let it rip.
A beautiful THwuMP and the shell went flying flawlessly out of the launcher.
HOLY S#*% ! It went twice as far as any of the previous launchers.
Pacing it off, I ranged it at 285 feet. It has performed consistently the same with every test.
On to the pics!
